Rooted and Grounded in Love: Spring 2026 Service of Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation

by | May 20, 2026

On Saturday, May 9, the Episcopal Diocese of Washington gathered at Washington National Cathedral to celebrate confirmation, reaffirmation, and reception — welcoming 135 people making a public commitment to the Christian faith and the Episcopal tradition.

In her sermon, Bishop Mariann Budde reflected on the difference between knowing about Jesus and trusting in him, describing faith as “leaning into thin air, trusting that a rope will hold.” Through prayer, laying on of hands, music, and community, the service offered a powerful witness to the Spirit at work among us.
