LIVING OUR BAPTISMAL PROMISES
Living a baptized life is a radical choice, a lifelong commitment to resisting all that draws us, and all creation, away from the love of God and the way of life and promising to join Jesus in giving, forgiving, teaching, and healing in his name. In baptism we promise to live our faith in radical ways when we affirm:
Will you continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the Prayers?
Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?
Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?
Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.
I will, with God’s help.
We are empowered by the Spirit to bless everyone we meet, practicing generosity and compassion and proclaiming the Good News of God in Christ with hopeful words and selfless actions.

The Diocese of Washington has curated a broad set of resources to support individuals and congregations to live into these promises. We invite you to explore how you are called to live a baptized life and join God in blessing your community.
