Shall We Gather – a new documentary

On Saturday, March 7 at 2pm, Resurrection Parish, in partnership with the Folk Life Center of St. Mary’s College of Maryland will offer our second showing of Shall We Gather, a new documentary that explores what happens when members of two historic rural churches — one traditionally Black, the other traditionally White — gather for dinner and real conversation. Centered on St. George’s Episcopal Church and Bethesda United Methodist Church, both in Valley Lee, MD, and both built in part by enslaved people, the film traces the intertwined histories of churches from the era of slavery to the present day, and the shared desire of these two congregations to reach across the barriers of the past.
