INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The diocese maintains relationships with two international institutions within the Anglican Communion.

SOUTHERN AFRICA LINK COMMITTEE

The Southern Africa Link Committee was formed in early 2004 to coordinate the Episcopal Diocese of Washington (EDOW)’s partnership with the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA) Anglican Church of Southern Africa.  When the partnership began, then-Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane said, “We cannot choose our human family and we cannot choose our Christian family either. Our job is to recognize that we belong to God and we belong together.”

WASHINGTON EPISCOPAL HOLY LAND COMMITTEE

The Washington Episcopal Holy Land Committee was formed in 2009 to facilitate the diocese’s relationship with the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East, which operates through dozens of parishes, numerous schools and institutes of learning for children K-12 and adults, and several clinics, hospitals and rehabilitation centers serving Muslims, Christians and people of all faiths throughout the Occupied Territories. The committee organizes an annual Christmas simulcast service between America and Bethlehem, raises funds for EDoJ institutions and advocates for peace and justice in the Holy Land.
