Learn how to help prevent gun violence in Maryland!
Hear from Maryland state legislators and gun violence prevention leader Karen Herren about two important upcoming bills: one would protect victims of domestic abuse from gun violence and the other would generate funding for community-based violence interruption programs. Each year, around 47 Marylanders lose their lives to domestic violence, and 74% of these victims are killed by gunfire; the first bill would speed the process of removing firearms once a protective order is in place. You’ll also learn how to advocate for passage of both bills, either from the comfort of your own home or by joining us at Moms Demand Action Advocacy Day on January 30 in Annapolis.
Guest speakers:
– Senator Shelly Hettleman, District 11, Baltimore County, and sponsor of the bill to prevent gun-related domestic violence
– Delegate Bernice Mireku-North, Esq., District 14, Montgomery County, and sponsor of the Comprehensive Community Safety Funding Act
– Karen Herren, Executive Director, Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence
